JUROR
The juror for Works on Paper 2012 is Mary Gaynier, Cut Paper Artist and Art Educator, Toledo, OH.
ELIGIBILITY
Dayton Area Works on Paper is a juried exhibition created by the Rosewood Gallery as a showcase for artists living within a 40-mile radius of Dayton, Ohio. Entries must be original works in any media on or of paper, completed within the last four years, not to exceed 40 inches in width (image, not frame). Work previously exhibited in the Rosewood Gallery is not eligible.
ENTRY PROCEDURE
Jurying will be done from actual work. Pieces must be labeled with the tags provided, stating: artist’s name, title of the piece, medium, size, price (or insurance value/Not For Sale), and Entry A, B or C (corresponding to the ENTRY CARD). All entries will be received at Rosewood Gallery on Thursday, January 19 - Noon to 7:00pm or Saturday, January 21 - 11:00am to 2:00pm.
A non-refundable entry fee of $20 for up to three pieces must accompany each ENTRY CARD. Multiple entries are permitted and should include an additional entry form and fee. Checks should be made payable to the City of Kettering.
The Gallery Coordinator reserves the right to reject any work not framed or wired in a sound manner, or not otherwise presentable for display.
OPENING RECEPTION
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. All artists and the public are invited to attend. United Art and Education Awards are presented at 3 p.m.
AWARDS AND SALES
The United Art and Education Awards (a total of $1,100) are determined at the discretion of the juror. Sales are encouraged, and a 30% commission will be retained from all purchases by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, sponsor for Rosewood Gallery.
LIABILITY
Every precaution is taken in handling entries. All work is insured during the installation process and while the work is on display in the Rosewood Gallery. The Gallery Coordinator reserves the right to reject work if it violates any conditions set forth in this prospectus, or is unsafe to display for any reason. The gallery does not cover damage that occurs due to faulty hanging systems.
PICK UP OF WORK
Work not selected for exhibition must be picked up on Thursday, February 2, from Noon to 7pm and Saturday, February 4, from 11am to 3pm. Upon completion of the show, exhibited work may be picked up by the artists on Saturday, March 10, from 11am to 3pm, or Monday, March 12, from noon to 7pm. If the artist wishes to delegate someone else to pick up the work, she/he must notify the Gallery Coordinator in advance. The Gallery will not be responsible for work remaining at Rosewood after March 30, 2012.
AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry to Works on Paper constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to all the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The Rosewood Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted entries for publicity purposes.
The Rosewood Gallery specializes in the exhibition of contemporary art by emerging local, regional and national artists. It is dedicated to the encouragement and creation of new works and to the promotion of the visual arts in the Dayton, Ohio, area. The Rosewood Gallery is sponsored by the City of Kettering Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, with support from the Kettering Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council.
